ABOUT US

We’re an all-volunteer organization working to provide CF patients at partner centers with the care they need, regardless of age, income, or place of residence. We help patients pay for medical care, supportive therapies, nutritional support, and emergency care.

Our Volunteers

Our volunteers donate their time, so the CF Care Fund has minimal overhead costs. This means your contributions go directly to the patients we’re here to help.

Patients

CF patients and their families face many challenges: maintaining insurance coverage, learning about treatment options, safeguarding health, and coping with the ups and downs of living with a chronic, progressive medical condition. Yet these struggles are often compounded with issues of health care affordability. At the CF Care Fund, we believe it’s our job to work toward eliminating this last challenge.

CYSTIC FIBROSIS

CF is an inherited disease that affects approximately 30,000 children and adults in the US, and many more people worldwide. More than ten million Americans unknowingly carry the gene for CF, although they’re symptom-free. CF is not contagious; a person must inherit two genes, one from each parent, to have the disease.

Just one story...

The CF Care Fund helped preserve the health of a CF patient who lives with her mother, father and a teenage brother in southern New Jersey. After her father was laid off from his job, her mother became the family’s primary breadwinner, working as a receptionist. Dad worked odd jobs when he could find them to help make ends meet, and took full responsibility for the girl’s care. Over time, her health worsened, necessitating more frequent hospital stays and, during the same period, her father was diagnosed with end-stage liver disease. Mom became responsible for the care of both patients on top of being the family’s sole breadwinner, and with more medications to buy and less money coming in, she faced a shortfall. The CF Care Fund was delighted to step in, paying all out-of-pocket costs for CF medications, which amounted to hundreds of dollars each month so that the girl’s care was not interrupted.
